Okay, friends, I have started this post too many times already and have found myself unable to hit publish. But this time, it's happening.
Jeff and I are expecting our first baby in early September. There's a picture of all of us below (part of Lola) from a camping trip we took to Alice Lake a couple of weeks ago. Camping at six months pregnant is not as bad as I worried it might be. In fact, our tent set up is more comfortable than our actual bed, it's just the getting in and out that's kind of annoying. So...we are expecting a baby (a surprise, we have no idea if it's a boy or girl) and in the meantime we are getting ready. And, apparently for us, that does not mean shopping. In fact, I have purchased a grand total of nothing and it's starting to really sink in that a baby really needs little more than Jeff and I and a diaper (and I've met hippies who definitely think the diaper is optional). So we are also downsizing. I would say that includes our belongings and our commitments.
For me, that means focusing on my job (I've been working as a landscape architect intern since I graduated from my Masters program 2 years and a bit ago) and on getting our living space feeling the way I want it to feel. And on seeing friends. You may or may not have noticed that I've cleared out the Camp + Quarry shop (temporarily? we shall see), though I'm still doing a few custom things here and there and plan to restock my downsized list of stockists over the summer (C+Q will still be available locally in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, and Portland).
This is all part of a concerted effort to get grounded. And to enjoy the summer. So happy almost last day of spring to you all! I hope that we meet here a little more often in the coming weeks. I've missed you!
